Berlin scene figurehead Gilles Aiken, AKA Edward, coming through with a massive Kalahari debut (and it’s safe to say he understood the assignment).

Booting off on a massive remix tip as the veteran producer reinterprets Mike Parker & Aric Rist’s Trybet project, but trust him to allow for a moment of dancefloor introspection. It’s prime early morning gear in a rousing juxtaposition of beatific string harmony and tough-as-nails deepness. Triumphant ‘window shutters open in the club at 5 AM’-type shit.

The other two are quintessential Edward: impressionistic, widescreen odysseys across lysergic terrain, but groove-forward where it counts. A pair of head-spinning explorations intended for the dancefloor, flush with shadowy flex, insectoid detail and tripped-out flourishes while keeping it funked-out in the tradition of Detroit.

The ‘Deep Sea Villain EP’ plumbs the depths of smudged abstraction, and as we’ve come to expect from Edward, it’s big on hallucinatory detail. It all oozes the multi-layered surrealism that typifies his best work. Proper transcendent biz.

Drive By was originally recorded in 1999, live to DAT tape without the aid of a computer. The track was set for release as part of TS 007, but the distributor went bankrupt, leaving only a few test pressings in circulation. Now, for the first time, the track is finally available to everyone.
“In search of an afterparty” the name of this split EP we are witnessing coming straight from a miraculous country called Uruguay. The story of a teacher and a student, the tale of different senses and perspectives, the dance of elusive, fictional Jair himself and the spies of the afterparty which can be on either way of self-data collection or when levels of paranoia have come to a boiling point and sense that the eyes are watching doesn’t go away that easily. The A side is taken by Muten, an artist who has already made a lot of noise not just in his native country but all over the world too whether it’s with an outstanding liveset, flawless dj set or a timeless record that he has crafted. The B side is a story of a rising and promising producer Flhez, and his quest of frequency manipulation + sound perfection. True honor to have these Uruguayan performers to join Exarde and deliver this outstanding body of work for it.
New sounds emerge from the depths, an enigmatic mutation that will transport you from the past to the present and back. Mystery Friend shares their formula and materializes it in this 4-track EP, loaded with elements of house, techno, and new beat that come together to form a solid and reverberant sonic experience. With Spanish vocals, the record taps into the essence of Latin energy.
For the next instalment of The Bricks, Anna Wall has curated a second VA that brings together artist from all corners of the globe. The A-side is by Santiago Uribe; he’s been living in Montevideo for fourteen years and is an integral part of the ever growing scene in Uruguay. Uribe made ‘Electro Metalero’ as a nod to industrial music, the resounding chords were created on the Nord Lead 2 alongside powerful drums and his own pitched down vocals. LVCA aka Luca Cazal was born in Milan and currently resides in Barcelona. He created ‘Lethe’ - meaning the river of oblivion in Greek mythology - as a live hardware jam with his trusted analogue machines 707, 303, 101, Juno 60 and Eventide H3000 for the finesse. The track is an emotive and musical journey expressed through the voices of machines. Growing up in Cherkasy, central Ukraine, Radiant Futur has lived in Kyiv for the last six years. The ‘Third Operator’ track is a story about the interaction of two objects and a third force affecting them. “This unknown is simultaneously mystical, magical, and incomprehensible but just as inseparable as time from space. This is a story about a dualistic concept of a fantastic world of people and machines, which surprisingly has a third element - the environment where everything happens.” explains Ian Yeromenko aka Radiant Futur. The Young Adults duo are from The Hague and have been cultivating their sound since 2020. ‘Transfusion (200 μg/L)’ was created with the Orbit 9090 and various other gear including the Korg ESX and the Digitone. They wanted to strike a balance between trance music and genuine emotion, all grounded by a timeless groove. “The goal of the track is to draw you into an introspective, emotional trance” explains Jeff and Timo of Young Adults.
